How Rover fees are calculated

Standard U.S. rules

  1. Add the base rate, extra pets, and add-ons, then subtract discounts.
  2. The owner pays an 11% booking fee on that booking total.
  3. Rover keeps a 20% service fee, so the sitter takes home 80%.
  4. Example: a $150 booking costs the owner $166.50 and pays the sitter $120.

California rules

  1. The sitter-entered rate is the sitter's take-home pay.
  2. Add a 25% marketplace fee, rounded to the nearest dollar.
  3. Add an 11% booking fee on the rate plus marketplace fee.
  4. Example: a $42 rate adds $11 (25% is $10.50, rounded up), then $5.83, for $58.83.

Percentage fees round to the nearest cent. Rover may run fee pilots or change fees, and taxes vary by location, so your checkout may differ.

Rover fee FAQ

How much is Rover's fee for pet owners?

Outside California, Rover publishes an 11% owner booking fee calculated on the booking total. A $150 booking adds about $16.50, for an estimated $166.50 before any tax.

How much does Rover take from sitters?

Rover's standard provider service fee is 20% of listed earnings, so sitters keep about 80%. A $150 booking pays roughly $120 before income taxes.

How are Rover fees different in California?

In California the sitter-entered rate is the sitter's take-home pay. Owners pay a 25% marketplace fee rounded to the nearest dollar, then an 11% booking fee on the total that includes the marketplace fee.

Are discounts and add-ons included before fees?

In this calculator, extra pet charges and add-ons are added and discounts are subtracted before any fee is applied, so every percentage uses the final booking amount.

Is this an official Rover quote?

No. This is an independent PetRoute estimate. Rover may run fee pilots, and fees and taxes vary, so confirm the final amount at checkout or in your Rover account.
